Working with Aurora in partnership with the City of Sunderland, this £300,000 Lighting scheme on the two level bridge, which was originally constructed in the eighteenth century was undertaken in just four months and included the installation of 440no. Urbis Focal floodlighting units, 328no. proprietary brackets and over 2000 mtrs of SWA cable.

Two feeder pillars on the north-west side of the bridge were used to supply 120kva loading via 4no. timer devices to control the lighting on a staggered time delay to minimize start currents. The floodlighting brackets were specially designed & manufactured to suit the bridge structure and incorporate either a swing or drop effect to ensure that future maintenance can be carried out in a safe working zone.
