AK Lighting and Signs are now the proud sponsors of Haydock Juniors FC Under 8s in Merseyside.
Knowsley depot manager Andy Parkinson presented the strips at a training session.
The team was founded in 1996 by Graham and Janet Barker, and Geoff and Chris Bate. All four of the clubs founders are still involved on the clubs committee.
Each year they start an academy for 6 year olds preparing for team football at U7s in the Warrington Junior league.
Darren Houghton and Anthony Johnson were asked 2 years ago if they would be interested in coaching the under 6s team at Haydock Football Club, with Anthonys younger son already training at the club also Darrens godson, they were happy to help. The current age of the team is under 7s and currently have 3 key players already on the books at Liverpool Football Club Academy where they receive further development to their skills, theres also have a further 2 keys player soon attending Wigan Athletic Football Club to further their skills. Haydock Football Club under 7s are currently into their second season, the first season they started in the bottom of the Warrington league and due to our fantastic form last season winning 15 of our 18 games, the Warrington league placed them into a higher league with teams which play to their level and this season we have continued with our winning form winning 4 of our 5 games played. They do occasional enter competitions, the first one they entered they won, but with the age group only being under 6s at the time the Warrington league dont really reward and recognise winners as all teams are winners they dont really keep league scores as playing football at the age these kids are should be fun and enjoyable to all kids and teams. The future now at the club is nothing but positive, the reason why AK LIGHTING AND SIGNS have sponsored them with a fantastic brand new kit and training tops and after our first 2 years playing in hand me down kits this has come as a massive pick me up to the kids and parents at our club, Haydock Juniors cannot thank Andy Kay and the kindness of AK LIGHTING AND SIGNS enough.
